Education Purpose The Maryland Psychological Association offers a breadth of post-doctoral training opportunities (see below) for the seasoned professional as well as for those who seek licensure in the field. From 3-hour workshops to the longer 3-day Ocean City Institute (OCI), attendees receive instruction from nationally known speakers and local professionals with expertise in subjects as varied as suicide prevention, psychopharmacology, managed care practice, and legal-ethical issues. Approval Status and Rating The Maryland Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. APA approval is extended to MPA through 02/01/2012. MPA is also approved by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a sponsor of Continuing Education credits. MPA maintains responsibility for all programs and their content.
Board of Educational Affairs The MPA Board of Educational Affairs researches, formulates and proposes to the MPA Board of Directors policies and programs concerning the primary and continuing education of psychologists. It is responsible for planning and conducting, in conjunction with staff, the educational programs approved by Board of Directors, the Annual Convention, and the other ongoing educational programs of the Association. |
