ASSISTANT PROFESSOR/RESEARCHER, FAMILY CENTER AT KENNEDY KRIEGER INSTITUTE: Baltimore, MD 

     The Family Center at Kennedy Krieger Institute provides quality, culturally competent, consumer-involved, comprehensive clinical programs for children and families affected by or at risk for trauma related to maltreatment or exposure to violence.

     We seek an energetic full-time faculty member to join a developing research division within a busy urban outpatient pediatric mental health center that focuses on the treatment of childhood exposure to neglect, physical/sexual abuse, community/domestic violence and traumatic loss. This is a research position that combines coordination and management of clinical research studies, teaching research techniques to students, manuscript preparation, data analysis and grant writing. Some clinical responsibilities will be included. 

     The individual must qualify for a faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins University. Individual must be licensed or board-eligible. Research postdoctoral fellowship is highly desirable.

ADJUNCT PSYCHOLOGY VACANCIES:  University of Baltimore, Division of Applied Behavioral Sciences, seeks instructors for two courses in its M.S. degree in Applied Psychology for the fall 2009 semester.  The first, Ethics and Legal Issues in the Practice of Psychology (APPL 602), is taught to beginning counseling students, and provides an introduction to professional identity issues as well as ethics and legal issues.  It is scheduled to meet once per week on Thursdays, 5:30 to 8 p.m. from September 3 to December 17.  The second course is Biological Basis of Behavior (APPL 601) which is required of all graduate students in the program. This course is also scheduled to meet once per week on Mondays from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. from August 31 to December 14.  Qualified applicants will have a doctorate in psychology or ABD from an accredited university. DIRECTOR OF PSYCHOLOGY:  The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center is seeking a Director of Psychology.  This is professional clinical psychologist work at a management and supervisory level reporting to the Facility Clinical Director.  Clifton T. CHILD PSYCHOLOGIST: The Center for Families at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (Pediatrics Department) has an exciting opening for a licensed child psychologist. Our interdisciplinary Center’s focus is on child maltreatment and family violence.  Our mission is to promote the safety, health, and development of children, families, and communities through clinical services, research, education, and advocacy. 

 

Responsibilities include directing our outpatient clinic (The Care Clinic) which provides treatment to abused children and their families.  Another responsibility is serving as a member of our Child Protection Team, an interdisciplinary consultation service regarding a wide array of maltreatment issues - for staff in the University of Maryland Medical System. There are excellent opportunities for teaching, supervising students and interns, and for advocacy at the local and state levels. 

 

Qualifications include at least three years of clinical experience post-licensure in child assessment and treatment with at least 1 year working specifically in the area of child maltreatment. Managerial experience preferred.
