Maryland Psychological Association for Graduate Students Interested in becoming a campus representative? Campus representatives are an integral part of MPAGS. Ultimately, MPAGS would like to have two campus representatives at every school in the state of Maryland and the greater D.C. area, and at least one representative at each graduate program at every school. This includes programs at all levels of training (i.e., M.A./M.S., Psy.D., Ph.D., etc.) and in all areas of psychology (i.e., clinical, counseling, school, etc.). So if you do not see a campus representative listed from your school or your program we need your help! Please read the description of the campus representative below and decide if you would like to become involved.
A campus representative’s job entails serving as a liaison between their school and the MPAGS Board. Campus representatives serve as the main form of communication in sharing news about MPAGS events and professional issues relevant to graduate students with students at their school. In addition, they bring concerns and suggestions from students at their school back to the MPAGS board to make sure students from their graduate programs have a voice in MPA. Campus representatives work primarily by distributing emails and posting fliers. Campus representatives do NOT have to attend monthly board meetings. The position does not require much of a time commitment, however, it can be a great addition to a CV and can further one’s understanding of how professional organizations such as MPAGS and MPA operate.
In order to become a campus rep, you must currently be a MPAGS member. Campus representatives are asked to serve in their position for one academic year, however, there is no limit as to the number of years someone can fill this position. If you have any further questions about becoming a campus rep, please contact MPAGS Membership Chair, Katie Kane at kanekatie@gmail.com, or a current campus representative at your school.
