Maryland Psychological Association (MPA) Statewide Psychologist Referral Service
Welcome to the Maryland Psychological Association (MPA) Statewide Psychologist Referral Service.
The Referral Service is open to all licensed psychologists in the State of Maryland. This public
service of MPA is supported by those psychologists who have chosen to pay a fee to list their information.
The Maryland Psychological Association provides this service as a way for you to find
psychologists* who are located near you and who may provide the services you want. You may
select by county, by ages of clients seen, and by the specialty areas associated with your
concerns. You will receive a list of psychologists whose self-described services match with
your needs. Click on any psychologist's name to find out more about that psychologist. Many psychologists
have web pages that further describe their services.
You may broaden or narrow your search to find a different, larger, or smaller selection of
psychologists.
Enter either a psychologist's last name OR Zip Code and the distance from zip code. If you use the Zip Code
locator, please select the number of miles from the zip code.
MPA suggests that you contact at least three psychologists by phone before you choose the one with whom you wish to make an appointment. You may want to discuss
how much experience the psychologist has had with patients/clients with problems similar to the one(s) you
have, the cost of services, how frequently you would be seen, the predicted length of
treatment and any questions you have about training or experience.
Please remember that most psychologists will be in session with patients/clients when you call, so you may
need to leave a message as to where and when the psychologist can return your call.
* Psychologists are professionals with five or more years of doctoral training in
mental/behavioral health in a graduate psychology program. Psychologists in the MPA
Referral Service are licensed in the State of Maryland. Psychology licensing in Maryland
is generic. Psychologists provide testing (assessment), psychotherapy, consultation and other services.
Psychologists do not prescribe medication. The listing of psychologists' specialties is based on self-reporting.
Therefore, MPA does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the information
contained in the MPA Referral Service nor in any way does MPA endorse any particular psychologist listed
in the Referral Service Directory. You should verify any information and make a determination as to whether
a particular psychologist is appropriate for you.
