MPAGS Benefits
MPAGS provides great opportunities for any graduate student interested in gaining
more knowledge and experience in the field of psychology, as well as those who simply
want to add professional memberships to their CV. Membership criteria include current
enrollment in a graduate program in psychology and either being a resident of Maryland
OR attending a psychology graduate program in Maryland.
- Participate in the annual MPAGS Internship Fair/Convention dedicated to topics
important to graduate students in psychology. The Internship Fair provides helpful
information to students in doctoral programs during the stressful and competitive
internship process. During the Convention, attendees can attend various workshops
on topics relevant to graduate students. MPAGS members can attend the convention
at a reduced fee!
- Access a Maryland Psychological Association psychologist for CV review and mock
interviewing for internships and jobs.
- Access to, and opportunities to publish in The Maryland Psychologist: MPA's
bi-monthly magazine with news, articles of interest, and a special column written
by students for students. Available to members as an online magazine.
- Attend training workshops offered by MPA at a reduced fee.
- Access the members-only MPA/MPAGS area of the website.
- Access the MPA/MPAGS listservs
- Opportunity for leadership roles within the organization, such as campus
representative, committee chair, or officer.
- The option to work with an MPA committee.
- Networking with students and professionals.
- Involvement in statewide advocacy and legislative initiatives such as Annapolis Watch.
- Exchange and discuss training, practice and research issues.
- Exposure to the profession at the state level.
