The Psychology Department of Notre Dame of Maryland University proposes to fill two tenure-track, assistant professor positions beginning on August 15 of academic year 2015-16:

  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist - Candidates must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology and be licensed as a psychologist in any state or license-eligible in Maryland. 

  • Experimental Psychology - Candidates must have a Ph.D. in psychology or neuroscience. Experience working with animals is required. Background in neuroscience is preferred.

The Psychology Department delivers the following curricula: (1) general psychology consistent with the APA guidelines for undergraduate psychology; and (2) behavioral neuroscience.  Faculty members teach across both majors and teach a wide range of courses.  Candidates should be comfortable with technology for pedagogy and online learning.

Preference will be given to individuals who have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching in at least some of the following domains: clinical, developmental, biological bases, social bases, behavioral bases, gender courses, and research methods.   • A Christian faith-based perspective; ideally, experience working with ministers and/or ministerial candidates.

 

Description of Job: The BWC is seeking a licensed psychologist to work in a team setting to assess ministerial candidates, serving as a Ministerial Assessment Specialist. The Ministerial Assessment Specialist (MAS) interprets assessment measures, and conducts extensive psychosocial interviews and clinical interviews, screening for psychopathology and assessing inter-and intrapersonal functioning. The psychologist joins a Ministerial Assessment Team. The Team explores the candidate’s call to ministry, personality factors, and other experiences and functioning pertaining to fitness for ministry. They produce detailed reports that integrate test findings and collateral data with the psychosocial and clinical interviews, and provide recommendations for the District Committee on Ordained Ministry and the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. A MAS meets with the ministerial candidate and District Committee representative to provide feedback in person. The Ministerial Assessment Team provides consultation and training to church leaders as needed.

 

This is a contract position, and we anticipate a need for approximately 30 psychological assessments per year. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and with one’s designated role on the team. Applications will be accepted through November 30, 2014 or until the position is filled.
