Maryland Psychological Association Graduate Students (MPAGS) Committee
Chair: Corey Molzon [Contact]
Mission or Role of Committee: MPAGS is the graduate student arm of the Maryland Psychological Association (MPA). It is an organization oriented toward unifying graduate students throughout Maryland and surrounding areas. MPAGS is dedicated to supporting fellow students in their collective development as leaders and advocates for the field of psychology.
Accomplishments this Past Year: MPAGS is happy to report a successful year of events and activities while increasing our membership involvement in additional schools in the DC/Maryland area. Our efforts included expanding the membership base and student involvement in the DC/Metro Area as well as schools in the Baltimore area, providing networking and social opportunities with early career psychologists, encouraging student involvement in advocacy, and offering opportunities for professional development. The MPAGS committees have worked hard throughout the year to plan and execute programming to meet the needs of the membership. Specific highlights include: increasing our membership base, restructuring and adding new student features to our annual Spring Convention to meet the needs and requests of graduate students throughout the DC/Maryland area such as opportunities for our students to present their own research as well as hosting a student speaker at our annual convention, hosting a diversity event "Working with Low-SES Clients: A Clinician's Toolbox" by Ariel Skalr, LGSW and Courtney Walls, LCSW-C, continuing to advance our mentorship program to include undergraduate students, graduate students, and early career psychologists, and continuing to expand our newsletter in size and scope.
Current Initiatives: : Current initiatives include continuing to expand our membership base and increasing events that reach students throughout the area.
