The Professional Practice Committee is responsible for exploring all aspects of running a psychological practice (including reimbursement issues) as well as career development. The committee recommends policies and provides resources to empower members to continue the development and diversity of their practice, and to enhance their personal and professional lives for the betterment of psychology and the patients they serve.
LISC is responsible for issues dealing with the licensing of psychologists in Maryland.
Most recently, the LISC was influental in helping to procure legislative support for the ability of psychology graduate students to sit for the state licensing exam upon receipt of their doctorate, if all supervisoryand training requirements are complete by that time. The supervision requirement has not been abolished, and new psychologists receive the same training and support as they always have. Those that have not completed the necessary hours of supervision by the time they graduate may still obtain the hours by completing requirements in a post-doc position..
