Y Healthy Kids Day
Healthy Kids Day is the Y's national initiative to improve the health and well-being of families across the country. On the day, Ys across the country hold events and encourage parents to make play dates with their kids every day as a simple way to become a healthier, more active and connected family.
MPA's activities have featured a "veggie" bean bag toss - a huge board with picture of boy with his mouth open and vegetable bean bags - and a "What does being healthy mean to me?" coloring activity.
Baltimore County Child and Adolescent Mental Health Fair
May 4, 2011 - MPA was one of fifty mental health organizations present to provide valuable resources to parents, teachers, and community mental health professionals. The parents were especially appreciative of the resources on stress and resilience, and overall, it was a great awareness-raising event for mental health and mental health services!
In addition to the resource fair, the event offered breakout sessions to parents and professionals. The sessions covered the topics of: Dating and Violence, No Cost / Low Cost Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse Prevention, Cutting and Self Injurious Behaviors, DORS presentation (MD Department of Rehabilitative Services), and Enhancing the Family-Provider Relationship.
