The Maryland Psychological Association (“MPA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) values your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through marylandpsychology.org and our member and event services, how we use it, and the choices you have.   • Contact and identity information — such as your name, mailing address, email address, and phone number, when you register for membership, an event, or continuing education, or contact us.
  • Professional information — such as your license number, license state, degree, specialty area, employer, and CV or biographical materials submitted for membership, presentations, or CE credit.
  • Payment information — such as billing address and payment card details, processed through our third-party payment or association management system (for example, our AMS platform); we do not store full payment card numbers on our own servers.
  • Account credentials — such as a username and password if you create an online account.
  • Usage data — such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring URLs, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Communications — such as messages you send us, survey responses, and event or CE feedback.


2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process membership applications, renewals, and event or CE registrations;
  • Maintain our membership directory and manage member benefits;
  • Communicate with you about association news, advocacy, events, publications (such as our newsletter), and CE opportunities;
  • Process payments and maintain financial records;
  • Administer CE credit tracking and issue certificates of completion;
  • Improve and secure the Site and our services; and
  • Comply with legal, licensing, and accreditation obligations.

  • Service providers who support our operations, such as our association management system (AMS), event registration and hotel-block platforms, email and communications tools, CE learning management platforms, and payment processors, each of which is authorized to use your information only to provide services to us;
  • Event partners, such as host hotels or venues, to the extent needed to fulfill your registration or room reservation;
  • Professional or regulatory bodies, where required for CE accreditation, licensure verification, or reporting;
  • Other members, in a directory or roster, only where you have opted in or where such sharing is a disclosed feature of membership; and
  • Legal or governmental authorities, if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of MPA, our members, or others.


5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including for the duration of your membership plus a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping, legal, and accreditation purposes, after which it is deleted or de-identified in accordance with our internal retention practices.


6. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.


7. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, or to opt out of certain communications. You can:

  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the “unsubscribe” link in those emails;
  • Update your member profile directly through our membership portal, where available; or
  • Contact us using the information in Section 11 below to make a request regarding your personal information.

We will respond to verified requests in accordance with applicable law.


8. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for professionals and adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.


9. Third-Party Links

The Site may link to third-party websites, including sponsor, exhibitor, or vendor sites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.


10. Changes to This Policy
