This webcast provides an overview of video game history as it pertains to mental health including research, legislation, and media coverage. Attendees will learn about the evolution of video game research and be presented with the newest and most cutting-edge works in addition to long-standing seminal pieces of research. They will also be introduced to various types of video games, game genres, and uses for video games beyond entertainment. Examples of integrating video games into therapeutic settings will be provided.

This webcast is designed to help you:

Develop basic knowledge of video games and gaming culture including current empirical literature on mental health and video games;
Develop comfort when speaking or asking about video games and gaming culture;
Recognize the utility of video games as a technique for rapport-building, information gathering, and treatment delivery.

Requirements for completion: This is considered a home-study course for reporting purposes, and in order to get CE credit you must pass the post-test (75%) and submit a completed evaluation. You will receive your CE certificate via email 7-10 business days after course completion.
