Gifted and Twice Exceptional Children: Evidence-Based Identification, Understanding and Support

This presentation focuses on the neuropsychology of giftedness including both research and case study data. First, Dr. Resnik covers conceptual models of ‘giftedness' and the evidence base for each. Second, Dr. Resnik discusses identification, specifically issues around evidence-based assessment. This part includes a discussion of equitable identification of all children considering their culture, neurodivergence, or disability. Third, the presentation includes a discussion of best practices for educational and therapeutic interventions applied to case study data.

Dr. Rebecca Resnik, Licensed Psychologist, founded Rebecca Resnik and Associates LLC over ten years ago. She trained in Pediatric Psychology and Neuropsychology at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital. Dr. Resnik specializes in neuropsychological assessment of children and adolescents. She earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Masters degree in Special Education with a concentration in learning disabilities. Dr. Resnik is a proud Fellow of MPA, and has served on the MPA Board of Directors for six years. She has been recognized for excellence in service to MPA. Dr. Resnik authored A Family's First Guide to ADHD in 2016. She is co-founder of the Computational Linguistics and Clinical Psychology workshop, which ran for six years at the North American Association for Computational Linguistics. Dr. Resnik is a regular provider of Continuing Education at national, state, and local events.
